How to Update MarkerBuddy and MarkerBuddy Lite

Learn how to check for and install MarkerBuddy and MarkerBuddy Lite updates through Adobe Creative Cloud.

Automatic update notifications

After the panel is ready, MarkerBuddy can make a small version check at most once every 24 hours. If the check fails, automatic retries wait about 6 hours and stay silent. All editing features continue to work offline.

MarkerBuddy and MarkerBuddy Lite 1.6.1 introduce the update checker. An older 1.6.0 installation cannot notify you about 1.6.1 because it does not contain this checker. Use your edition’s Adobe Marketplace link below to update older installations manually.

Update MarkerBuddy

  1. Open MarkerBuddy, open About, and select Check for Updates for a fresh check.
  2. If a newer version is available, select Update MarkerBuddy. This opens the official MarkerBuddy page on Adobe Marketplace.
  3. On Adobe Marketplace, select Manage when it is shown.
  4. Allow Adobe to open the Creative Cloud desktop application if prompted.
  5. In Adobe Creative Cloud, go to Stock & Marketplace → Plugins → Manage Plugins. Find MarkerBuddy and select Update.
  6. Follow Adobe’s prompts. Restart or reopen Premiere or the plugin if Adobe asks you to.

Update MarkerBuddy Lite

In MarkerBuddy Lite, open About → Check for Updates, then select Update MarkerBuddy Lite when an update is available. This opens the separate Lite Marketplace page below. Follow the same Adobe steps and find MarkerBuddy Lite in Manage Plugins.

Adobe Creative Cloud manages installation. Neither plugin downloads a CCX, installs an update, or replaces itself. Adobe’s labels may vary with its version and language.

If Update is not shown

Only if Creative Cloud has not refreshed its list, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Open Creative Cloud Desktop and go to Apps.
  2. Open the options menu beside Installed Apps and choose Check for updates.
  3. Return to Stock & Marketplace → Manage Plugins.
  4. Find MarkerBuddy or MarkerBuddy Lite again and check whether Update is available.

Later and version reminders

Later hides the notice for 24 hours. “Don’t remind me about version X” turns off automatic reminders for that exact version only. A newer version can still notify you. About always shows the last known update status; Check for Updates performs a fresh check. Restore Update Reminders clears the version dismissal.

Does MarkerBuddy require internet access?

No. MarkerBuddy and MarkerBuddy Lite work fully offline. Editing, marker tools, and the automation features included in your edition do not require an internet connection. An update check only requests a small version file from markerbuddy.app. No project, sequence, media, marker, timeline, filename, or editing data is uploaded; there are no accounts, telemetry, or analytics in the checker.

An offline automatic check does nothing visible. If you select Check for Updates while offline, About shows a neutral status and the plugin continues to work normally. Viewing Adobe Marketplace and installing updates through Adobe require a connection.

Updates are announced only after the release is verified as available through Adobe. A pending or unpublished release does not trigger a notification.
